How To Build A Workbench

The workbench is the mainstay of the carpenters ‘tools’.

The video below shows a workbench frame being built using only wood (2x6s), glue and screws with fairly simple joinery.

A coat of polyurethane was added afterwards for added protection.

In this case the top was not needed as it already part of a mounted lathe but for anyone making their own workbench a top could be added easily enough.

This guy has a load of tools at his disposal but as with any woodworking, it’s not about the tools you use, it’s about the construction.

Check out the video below (and then take a look at the photos underneath for another workbench idea) :

Quick Tip

Welcome to my updated woodworking site.

Here’s a quick tip :

Before seeking interesting, simple plans to craft, it is wise to research and gather essential hand tools. Having to run extra errands to buy necessary tools will distract the most enthused do-it-yourself type. Attempting to ‘make-do’ will most likely lead to discouragement and delay, rather than success. Keeping a well-maintained, basic, but expandable, toolbox is one of the best woodworking ideas to follow-up.
